Dear Students, Distance Education as a mode of imparting education in the present age, is assumong global accpetance and dimensions. It has immense potential and possibilities as an alternative to traditional education . The Directorate of Distance Education (DDE), Patna University, then known as Institute if Correspondence Courses was established in 1974 and is the first institute in the large segment of the Eastern India to impart education through distance mode, For the last 32 years, the DDE has been providing educational opportunities to larger and larger segments of population particularly to those who are living in remote and rural areas including these who are in service or in business, housewives and others who wish to upgrade their knowledge in various fields. The Directorate of Distance Education, Patna University is offering at present many courses and it is planning to start many new vocational courses in near future for the benefit of the students. I wish all success to the students of the DDE, Patna University.
